DKSH establishes sweet applications innovation centre in Indonesia
DKSH’s Business Unit Performance Materials has inaugurated a specialised “Sweet Application” Innovation Centre in South Jakarta, Indonesia. The state-of-the-art facility features advanced technology for formulation development tailored to local palates and complements the company’s existing savoury applications laboratory.
This strategic expansion enhances DKSH’s technical capabilities and reinforces its position as a leading distributor of specialty chemicals and ingredients for the food and beverage industry in the region.
Specialised technical capabilities
The newly established innovation centre is equipped with cutting-edge technologies specifically designed to accelerate product development for sweet food and beverage applications. The facility’s advanced equipment delivers high-precision mixing, grinding, heating and controlled processing capabilities, ensuring formulations meet stringent industry standards while satisfying consumer preferences.
Technical capabilities at the centre include specialised solutions for emulsification, viscosity measurement, fermentation and controlled baking processes. These features enable DKSH’s partners to optimise product development by improving taste, texture and stability parameters, whilst also extending shelf-life for sweet food and beverage products.
Cesar Saez, Global Vice President, Food and Beverage Ingredients, Performance Materials, DKSH Indonesia, commented: “The opening of our ‘Sweet Application’ Innovation Center in Indonesia marks a significant milestone in our commitment to fostering innovation and delivering superior solutions to our partners in the food and beverage industry. With the addition of the sweet application centre, alongside our existing savory applications centre, we are significantly increasing our capacity for specialized technical support, ensuring distinct and dedicated expertise for both sweet and savoury formulations.”
Accelerated development processes
The innovation centre’s comprehensive technical infrastructure provides DKSH’s business partners with superior formulation services, technical expertise and rapid prototyping capabilities. This integrated approach significantly reduces time-to-market for new product developments while maintaining exceptionally high standards in consistency, quality and safety.
The establishment of separate specialized laboratories for sweet and savoury applications demonstrates DKSH’s dedication to providing dedicated expertise tailored to specific product categories, rather than utilising a generalised approach to formulation development.
Market expansion strategy
The new facility in Indonesia forms part of DKSH’s broader technical infrastructure, which currently encompasses 58 innovation centres globally providing formulation development and regulatory support for its business partners.
This expansion aligns with DKSH’s strategic focus on enhancing its technical capabilities while strengthening its market position in the Asia-Pacific region. The company has established itself as a leading Market Expansion Services provider, delivering growth for companies in Asia and beyond across its Business Units Healthcare, Consumer Goods, Performance Materials, and Technology.
DKSH Business Unit Performance Materials distributes specialty chemicals and ingredients for food, pharmaceutical, personal care, and various industrial applications. With around 1,720 specialists, the Business Unit generated net sales of CHF 1.4 billion in 2024.
