FrieslandCampina Ingredients unveils novel microencapsulated DHA powders
FrieslandCampina Ingredients has launched two new microencapsulated docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) powder ingredients – Biotis® DHA FlexP 15 and Biotis® DHA FlexP 20.
These innovative powders leverage over 23 years of microencapsulation expertise to provide high DHA loads of 15% and 20% respectively from an algal source.
The powders are produced using an advanced encapsulation matrix that protects the highly unsaturated DHA from oxidation while masking any inherent fishy off-flavours. A key differentiator is the co-encapsulation of 4g vitamin C per 100g powder to provide synergistic benefits.
Designed for superior sensory and formulation attributes
In addition to oxidative stability and clean flavour, the free-flowing powders offer excellent solubility and dispersibility, even in cold aqueous systems. Their dispersible nature allows flexible incorporation into diverse food, beverage and supplement applications.
The vegan Biotis® DHA FlexP 15 utilizes a plant-based encapsulant system, while Biotis® DHA FlexP 20 incorporates dairy proteins to achieve the 20% DHA load suitable for vegetarian products.
