At this year’s Vitafoods trade show, global natural astaxanthin supplier AstaReal unveiled a novel algae-based formula that combines two potent ingredients from microalgae: the company’s flagship natural astaxanthin product along with omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA from French firm Polaris. The science-backed formula marries the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits of astaxanthin from Haematococcus pluvialis microalgae with the cell membrane support and physical performance enhancement of omega-3s EPA and DHA from Schizochytrium microalgae. AstaReal highlighted over 70 clinical trials demonstrating the potential health impacts of its natural astaxanthin.
Meeting market demand for scientifically-validated, plant-based nutrition
According to AstaReal, Vitafoods saw surging interest in plant-based, immunity-boosting ingredients with strong scientific substantiation. Formulations and delivery formats like softgels, gummies, drinks and powder mixes were particularly sought after for applications in sports nutrition, women’s health, gut health, and products targeting sleep, stress and other lifestyle factors.
