The strategic alliance between Gonmisol (Productos Químicos Gonmisol SA), part of the SuanNutra Group, and the Indian phytoextract specialist grants distribution rights across Europe and the UK for a curated portfolio of traditional botanical ingredients. Selected extracts will also be made available to SuanNutra USA for North American commercialisation.

Partnership targets growing market demand

The collaboration responds to increasing global demand for Ayurveda-based nutrients, particularly in sectors experiencing significant growth in natural solutions. The global Ayurvedic supplement market is forecast to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 9.9%, reaching US$4.7 billion by 2034 according to Future Market Insights.

“This collaboration underscores our commitment to bringing trusted, high-quality, science-backed botanical solutions to the European market,” said Anthony Weston, CEO of SuanNutra. “We are proud to deepen our relationship with K. Patel, a long-standing partner whose values of quality and innovation mirror our own. Ayurveda, with its millennia-old heritage, offers a treasure trove of wellness solutions that aligns perfectly with the growing demand for natural wellness products.”

Science-backed botanical portfolio

Patel Phyto Extractions, established in 2005, operates GMP-compliant, USFDA audited facilities with extraction capacity exceeding 6,000 metric tons annually. The company’s extensive range includes herbal extracts, phytochemicals and food ingredients backed by rigorous scientific validation.

The partnership will provide access to standardised Ayurvedic extracts including shatavari (Asparagus racemosus), fenugreek, green coffee, triphala, gymnema (Gymnema sylvestre), ginger and curcumin. These botanicals address specific health categories, with shatavari gaining recognition as a phytoestrogenic adaptogen supporting oestrogen balance, libido, and emotional resilience, whilst fenugreek targets postpartum recovery and metabolic balance concerns including polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS).

“We’re thrilled to partner with Gonmisol to bring our heritage-rich, scientifically backed botanical extracts to European formulators,” said Hitesh Patel, Managing Director of K. Patel. “Gonmisol’s deep market knowledge to deliver innovative, nature-derived solutions perfectly aligns with modern consumers’ health aspirations.”

Maria Angeles Gutierrez Montero, Marketing Director of SuanNutra, identified market potential: “There is an undeniable ‘white space’ for female-focused Ayurvedic supplements addressing hormonal, metabolic, and digestive balance. We consistently receive requests for such holistic solutions to address them.”

Sustainable supply chain practices

Patel emphasises sustainable practices through a 360° supply chain management system ensuring complete traceability from farm to finished product. The company sources raw materials locally, working with Indian farmers to promote Good Agricultural Practices through contractual farming arrangements. This approach guarantees produce free from pesticides and heavy metals whilst supporting rural communities through technical training, education programmes, and infrastructure development.

Increasing regulatory acceptance under EU regulations and EFSA health claims is facilitating market expansion for Ayurveda-based products, previously considered niche ingredients. The partnership combines Gonmisol’s established European market presence with K. Patel’s traditional extraction expertise spanning two generations of craftsmanship.
