Monteloeder’s botanical blend shows promise for weight management and motivation
A consumer study of Monteloeder’s Metabolaid supplement has revealed benefits extending beyond physical weight loss to include improved motivation and reduced emotional eating amongst participants.
The eight-week assessment involved 112 adult participants in the United States who consumed a 500mg daily dose of the botanical supplement, which combines standardised extracts from hibiscus (Hibiscus sabdariffa) and lemon verbena (Lippia citrodora). Participants completed weekly self-assessment questionnaires to track their progress throughout the study period.
Physical and psychological benefits observed
Results indicated an overall weight reduction of approximately 3% by the conclusion of the eight-week period, with improvements appearing from the first week and continuing through to week eight. The weight loss followed a sustained downward trajectory throughout the assessment period.
Approximately one-third of participants reported a notable decrease in feelings of bloating accompanying their weight loss. Additionally, around two-thirds of users expressed feeling more energised, with reports of increased physical activity after four weeks, engaging in sport or physical exercise at least three times weekly.
Impact on eating behaviours and motivation
More than 70% of participants reported improvements in their eating habits, characterised by greater control over snacking and an increased preference for healthier food options, particularly from the fourth week onwards. Participants also noted fewer food cravings and reduced hunger between meals.
Four weeks into the assessment, participants reported noticeable increases in motivation and energy levels. The motivation to maintain healthier routines persisted throughout the evaluation period. Participants also reported fewer urges to snack due to boredom, stress, or sadness, indicating improved control over emotional eating patterns.
“A common complaint is that healthy eating routines are challenging to maintain,” observes Mariana Ortega-Rufino, MS, Science Marketing Manager for SUANNUTRA. “Motivation often fades after the first weeks. Restrictive diets often backfire due to low energy, strong cravings, and increased stress, all of which make consistency difficult.”
Scientific backing and mechanisms
Metabolaid is supported by 10 preclinical and clinical studies involving more than 450 volunteers. Previous research has demonstrated the supplement’s potential influence on metabolic pathways, including adenosine monophosphate-activated protein kinase (AMPK), which plays a role in energy balance and satiety.
The polyphenol-rich botanical composition has also been linked to more optimal GLP-1 levels following two months of supplementation. GLP-1 is a gut hormone that helps control blood sugar by instructing the pancreas to release insulin, whilst also controlling appetite by slowing digestion and sending fullness signals to the brain. The supplement has additionally shown prebiotic properties that support a balanced gut microbiome.
“From their feedback we discovered Metabolaid’s potential to support individuals along their weight-management journey by addressing both physical and emotional factors,” states Jonathan Jones, PhD, Chief R&D Officer for Monteloeder. “It seems to be associated with fewer self-reported episodes of emotional-eating, whilst empowering users to make better lifestyle decisions, embrace healthier routines, and feel more positive about their daily eating patterns.”
