GELITA’s new skin peptide puts body barrier health under the microscope
GELITA AG, the German collagen protein specialist, took centre stage at Vitafoods Europe 2026 in Barcelona, showcasing its Bioactive Collagen Peptides® portfolio and unveiling a new ingredient targeting skin barrier health. The company, which served
as the event’s official collagen sponsor, presented under its ‘Be Active!’ umbrella.
Targeting the over-40s athlete
With more consumers remaining physically active well into middle age and beyond, GELITA used the platform to highlight how declining collagen synthesis affects the structural integrity of tendons, joints, bones and muscles. Its BCP range, including TENDOFORTE®, FORTIGEL®, FORTIBONE®, PeptENDURE® and BODYBALANCE®, is positioned to support musculoskeletal function, recovery and performance in this demographic.
Oliver Wolf, Marketing at GELITA, noted: “We provide scientifically validated collagen peptide solutions that enable manufacturers to develop targeted nutrition concepts for active lifestyles. Through our ‘Be Active!’ initiative, we want to illustrate how collagen-based nutrition can help consumers maintain strength, mobility and vitality throughout all stages of life.”
Women’s health in focus
A dedicated segment of GELITA’s showcase addressed the women’s health market, where age-related skin changes and post-menopausal bone loss are driving demand for targeted nutraceutical ingredients. VERISOL® was highlighted for skin health applications, while Fortibone addresses bone density and Fortigel supports joint mobility, offering formulators a science-backed toolkit for this growing category.
CURADERM makes its debut
The headline product launch was CURADERM®, making its first appearance at a trade show. Described as a Bioactive Collagen Peptide developed for applications supporting skin healing, atopic-prone skin and gum health, CURADERM is positioned as the first collagen peptide with scientifically substantiated results in these areas, enabling evidence-based product claims for skin and oral care concepts.
Softgel solutions round out the offering
Beyond peptides, GELITA also presented its Softgel Specialty Portfolio, a range of pharmaceutical-grade gelatins designed for supplement developers. The portfolio covers rapid fill release, enteric soft capsules, leakage prevention and cross-linking avoidance, giving formulators flexibility in achieving their desired release profiles.
Science sessions and turn-key concepts
Several scientific presentations accompanied the booth activity. Sessions at the Vitafoods Conference and New Ingredients Theatre covered topics including the real-world impact of BCP in performance sports and collagen myth-busting, as well as new opportunities in skin and oral care with targeted peptides.
GELITA also presented ready-to-market supplement concepts via its subsidiary GELITA Health, offering nutraceutical brands a route to faster product development without building formulation capability from scratch.
Founded over 150 years ago and headquartered in Eberbach, Germany, GELITA operates more than 20 sites globally and supplies collagen peptides, tailor-made gelatins and water-insoluble collagens across food, pharmaceutical and technical applications.
