Manufacturing innovation summit to spotlight AI and sustainability challenges

Leading food scientists and industry experts will gather at IFE Manufacturing 2025 to address pressing challenges in food production, including artificial intelligence implementation, allergen management, and sustainable manufacturing practices. The three-day event, part of Food, Drink & Hospitality Week at Excel London, will feature technical sessions and panel discussions focused on emerging technologies and operational efficiency.

IFE Manufacturing 2025 runs from 17-19 March at Excel London

Artificial intelligence in food production

A key technical session will examine practical applications of AI in food manufacturing, with Campden BRI’s Bertrand Emond leading discussions on operational streamlining and decision-making processes. The panel, featuring specialists from Scorpion Vision and the British Frozen Food Federation, will assess current AI implementation strategies in production environments.

Allergen control and contamination prevention

Food safety experts will present new approaches to allergen management through a detailed case study. The session brings together specialists from the Food Standards Agency and RQA Group, with FGS Ingredients sharing technical insights from recent contamination prevention initiatives.

Supply chain technical resilience

Recent disruptions have highlighted the need for robust supply chain systems in food manufacturing. Peter Wortsman from European Food and Farming Partnerships will chair a technical analysis of supply chain strengthening measures, with input from Helios and Hilton Foods representatives.

Sustainability targets and net-zero transition

The Carbon Trust’s Isabel DiVanna will moderate a session examining practical approaches to achieving net-zero targets in food production systems. Sarah Wakefield from Eating Better notes: “How the food and drink industry responds to the climate and nature crises will determine much about the future of their businesses and the planet.”

Contract manufacturing developments

European Co-Packers Association Executive Director Ton Knipscheer will lead discussions on contract manufacturing evolution and sustainable packaging technologies, focusing on technical efficiency and waste reduction strategies.
