Greenvit launches Aronvit aronia extract in US market with metabolic health data performance

Polish botanical nutraceuticals company Greenvit has introduced Aronvit, a standardised extract of aronia berries (Aronia melanocarpa), to the US market. The launch is supported by results from a pilot randomised human trial demonstrating the ingredient’s effects on metabolic health markers.

Clinical trial shows cardiovascular benefits

The two-phase pilot study, led by Dr Patrycja Bloch and published in April 2025 in the Journal of Functional Foods, examined the effects of 200 mg daily supplementation of Aronvit over six weeks. Results showed significant reductions in total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol and homocysteine in subjects with elevated blood pressure or cholesterol levels. The trial also recorded decreased levels of the liver enzyme alanine aminotransferase (ALAT), indicating improved hepatic function.

Laboratory analysis revealed anti-inflammatory effects, with reduced pro-inflammatory cytokines and adhesion molecules in human vascular endothelial cells and blood-derived immune cells. The extract demonstrated strong antioxidant activity, evidenced by a 40% reduction in reactive oxygen species and increased nitric oxide production in cells.

Standardised polyphenol content

Aronvit is sourced from the Nero-Eggert variety of aronia berries, developed by specialist Piotr Eggert. The extract is standardised to contain 25% polyphenols, including 15% anthocyanins and 10% proanthocyanidins. It also provides vitamins C, E and K, along with minerals including iron and calcium.

“Modern science confirms what people intuitively knew for generations, that aronia is one of the richest sources of natural polyphenols and antioxidants,” said Rafal Pietruszynski, Greenvit CEO. “Aronvit is a true superberry extract, combining heritage with science and innovation.”

Processing technology and supply

Greenvit processes the extract using its proprietary PureGreenLine technology, which employs cold water extraction and multi-step membrane filtration without chemical solvents. The company sources raw materials from local Polish farmers and operates what it describes as a zero-waste facility powered by photovoltaic energy.

The extract has earned a reference position in the United States Pharmacopeia (USP) as a US monograph for aronia extract. Greenvit has opened a headquarters and warehouse in Voorhees, New Jersey, to support North American distribution.

Pietruszynski noted that aronia berry “has one of the highest capacities of any berry for absorbing reactive oxygen species”, adding that the company’s research has “demonstrated its positive impact on metabolic health and support of heart health.”

The ingredient was presented at SupplySide Global in Las Vegas in October 2025.
