Roquette’s NUTRIOSE soluble fibres earn NutraStrong prebiotic verified certification
Roquette has announced that selected products from its NUTRIOSE® soluble fibre range have received NutraStrong™ Prebiotic Verified certification from third-party certification body SGS Nutrasource, adding independent validation to an ingredient portfolio already supported by over 26 clinical studies.
The certification covers three specific grades – NUTRIOSE FM 06, NUTRIOSE FB 06, and NUTRIOSE FM 15S – following a rigorous evaluation against SGS Nutrasource’s benchmarks for manufacturing quality, label compliance, testing protocols, and science-based prebiotic claims.
What the certification covers
NutraStrong Prebiotic Verified is an industry-spanning programme designed to establish clear standards for prebiotic ingredients and guard against unsubstantiated claims. Certified products must demonstrate prebiotic function through clinical evidence, not simply compositional data.
The three NUTRIOSE grades assessed are derived from non-GMO corn or wheat and are characterised by neutral taste, high solubility, and process stability – properties that support their use across a broad range of food and beverage applications without significantly altering sensory profiles.
Prebiotic mechanism and clinical evidence
Research underpinning the certification demonstrates that NUTRIOSE selectively modulates gut microbiota composition, including increasing the abundance of Parabacteroides distasonis, and influences intestinal gas homeostasis. Broader microbiota-related endpoints studied include blood glucose management, satiety, weight management, and sustained energy release. More recent work has begun to examine potential associations with immune function and mental wellbeing, though Roquette describes these findings as initial evidence. Iva François, Global Product Marketing Leader for Fibres at Roquette, said: “With proven prebiotic effect, NUTRIOSE fibres offer our customers a science-backed solution for gut health and overall well-being. This certification illustrates the high standard of our quality and scientific evidence, and further underlines our dedication to delivering innovative prebiotic ingredients that our customers and consumers can trust.”
Market context
Consumer awareness of prebiotics continues to grow, with 64% of people globally reporting familiarity with the term and 52% of those having purchased prebiotic products in the preceding twelve months, according to FMCG Gurus (2025). Separately, Innova Market Insights data indicates that 59% of consumers consider gut health important to whole-body wellness.
Kevin Yan, Vice President of Certifications and Analytics at SGS Nutrasource, commented: “The NutraStrong programme is reserved for best-in-class branded ingredients and we are delighted to welcome Roquette to our ranks.”
All three certified grades also hold low-FODMAP certification and are non-GMO Project Verified.
