Fortress Technology unveils Raptor Tritek compact 3-in-1 food inspection system at Interpack 2026
Fortress Technology has launched the Raptor Tritek, a fully integrated metal detector, checkweigher and vision inspection system housed within a single 2.5-metre stainless steel frame – a combination that promises to cut floor space, reduce contamination risk and simplify compliance for food processors operating under HACCP, BRCGS, GFSI and IFS frameworks.
A smaller footprint with no compromise on performance
The Raptor Tritek is at least 40% shorter than conventional modular combination systems, which typically require separate conveyors and support frames to link individual inspection units. By consolidating all three technologies into one frame supported by just six floor contact points – half the number found on standard-length models – the system reduces the surface area where dirt, debris and microorganisms can accumulate.
European Sales Director Phil Brown notes: “By halving the number of floor contact points and threads, the potential for dirt, debris and microorganisms to accumulate is greatly diminished, further enhancing the overall hygiene and safety of the production environment.”
The system is rated for an average throughput of 150 packs per minute and is available in four belt widths – 100 mm, 200 mm, 300 mm and 400 mm – to accommodate different product formats, including meats, dairy, prepared meals, chilled pizzas, bakery goods and confectionery.
HACCP metal detection always prioritised
A notable feature of the Raptor Tritek is its Conveyor Run Only Mode, which ensures metal detection remains active even when checkweighing is not required – a design decision grounded directly in HACCP protocol.
As Brown explains: “Checkweighing is essential for quality control. But HACCP stipulates that product should never leave the production facility and be distributed to retailers if not inspected for potential metal contamination.”
Separate reject mechanisms isolate metal contaminants from weight rejects, minimising food waste. The metal detector includes automatic compensation for application-specific product effect, and a single pass learning function calibrates settings rapidly during setup.
Vision inspection and label verification
Cameras positioned above and below the conveyor capture simultaneous images of top and bottom labels as each pack transitions from the checkweigher to the outfeed conveyor. The integrated vision system applies optical character recognition (OCR) to detect faulty labels, printing errors and poor-quality print in real time, removing the need for manual scanning or data entry during product setup.
Industry 4.0 connectivity
The Raptor Tritek is equipped with 500 product settings, managed via a single HMI screen with graphical prompts to reduce operator error. For data reporting, the system supports Contact 4.0, OPC UA and Ethernet/IP adapters, enabling integration with centralised production data systems and alignment with current and forthcoming digital reporting requirements.
